What is the most popular wedding cake flavour in Peterborough?

It’s one of the first questions couples ask when we start discussing cake flavours. And it makes sense, you want something your guests will enjoy, but you also want it to feel like your cake.
The truth is, there isn’t just one “most popular” wedding cake flavour in Peterborough or Stamford. There are a few classics that always work beautifully, but every now and then a couple chooses something a little more personal… and those are often the cakes people remember most.
This semi-naked lemon and blueberry cake is a perfect example. It’s not on my standard flavour list, but when the couple asked for it, I was more than happy to create it for them. And honestly, the fresh blueberry decoration tied everything together so naturally, inside and out.
Classic flavours that never let you down
If you’re feeling unsure, you’re not alone. Most couples want something safe, especially when you’re catering for a full room of guests.
Vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, and lemon are always the most requested. They’re familiar, easy to love, and they work well across different age groups.
I always say, if you’re trying to please everyone, you can’t go wrong with a classic. But that doesn’t mean it has to feel boring. It’s all in how it’s made and paired.

A closer look at lemon and blueberry

Now, this is where things get a bit more interesting.
This lemon and blueberry wedding cake is a lovely example of how a semi-naked wedding cake can feel both relaxed and elegant. Lemon cake on its own is already a favourite, particularly for spring and summer. It’s light, fresh, and not too sweet.
But when you add blueberry, it softens that sharpness just enough and brings a gentle sweetness through the sponge. For this cake, I paired a soft lemon sponge with blueberry flavour running through it, then finished it with fresh blueberries on top. The decoration wasn’t just for looks, it reflected exactly what was inside.
It’s one of those combinations that feels thoughtful without being complicated. And I’ll be honest, it’s one I’d happily recommend in Peterborough or Stamford. if you want something a little different but still very safe.
Choosing your flavour, without overthinking it
This is usually the point where couples start to second-guess themselves.
My advice is always the same. Choose something you’ll enjoy. Your guests will appreciate a well-made cake far more than a “perfect” flavour choice.
If you’re torn, you can always mix tiers. Something classic on one tier, something a bit more personal on another. That way you get the best of both.
And if you have an idea that’s not on my list, like this lemon and blueberry cake, just ask. I’m always happy to accommodate where I can.
A little note on this cake
This cake was delivered and set up in the library at Sessions House in Spalding, where I’m proud to be a trusted supplier. It suited the space so beautifully, soft, elegant, and just a little bit different.
Those are the cakes I enjoy making the most. The ones that feel like they truly belong to the couple.
So, what’s the most popular wedding cake flavour in Peterborough?
If we’re talking numbers, it’s still the classics.
But if we’re talking about the cakes people remember, it’s often the ones that reflect the couple. Just like this lemon and blueberry design.
One thing I always say to my couples… you don’t have to pick the most popular option, you just have to pick the right one for you.
